Linux Install Issue

PROBLEM: Installation fails on Debian Sid 32bit w/ 64bit Kernel:

$ linux32 ./TheCurseOfNordicCove.bin
Preparing to install…
Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive…
Configuring the installer for this system’s environment…
strings: ‘/lib/libc.so.6′: No such file

Launching installer…

An internal LaunchAnywhere application error has occured and this application cannot proceed. (LAX)

libc.so.6 is in /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6

THE FIX:

The InstallAnywhere app requires Java. Once you install that, the installer should work perfectly! (applies to Linux, Windows, and Mac versions)

When you have PS1 environment variable with a “u”, the installer is getting confused with a Unicode character, causing your error. We forced this situation here and produced the exact error by:

(THE PROBLEM):
$ export MYSQL_PS1=”kayte mysql #c u@h/d>”

..running the installer produces your error.

(THE FIX): What you can try in this case is:

$ unset PS1 && ./TheCurseOfNordicCove.bin

Also, regarding the “strings: ‘/lib/libc.so.6′: No such file” line, it will disappear if you copy the lib.so.6 file from /lib/i386-linux-gnu/ to /lib/

Linux Sound Arch Issue

PROBLEM: No sound on arch linux x86_64

I Look at player.log and i got:

FMOD failed to get number of drivers … File not found.
(Filename: /BuildAgent/work/812c4f5049264fad/Runtime/Audio/AudioManager.cpp Line: 133)

Other unity game which i have the sound from give me:

AudioManager: Using PulseAudio: Default Output Device

Which file FMOD is looking for ? maybe i could make a link to fix it.

THE FIX:

This sounds (no pun intended!) like the “ia32-libs” or “ia32-libs-multiarch” package needs to be installed. It may ask to install other dependencies. Once all done, reboot and see if you still experience no audio. Let us know if your issue persists!

If looking at the log file, and it seems FMOD didn’t found the file it was looking for,it may not set the sound to work. You probably have this file somewhere else, but not where FMOD is looking for it.

Linux Frames Per Sec Issue

PROBLEM: Users experiencing a low FPS

THE FIX:

The selected Video Driver.
Settings -> System -> Software Sources. Under Additional Drivers, select “Using Experimental NVIDIA binary Xorg driver, kernel module, and VDAPU library from nvidia-experimental-310 (proprietary, tested)”.

This increased the FPS to an adequate speed to play through the entire game.

Other things to check if this alone does not correct it:

Installed aptitude
Installed compizconfig-settings-manager
General -> Composite -> Unredirect Fullscreen Windows is Enabled by default. Running the little glgears test showed 60 fps both enabled and disabled. Leaving Enabled per doc.
General -> OpenGL -> Disabled VBlank in CCSM. Same FPS with the glgears test program.
added the following line: “export vblank_mode=0″ into ~/.bashrc file.

Windows 8 Install Error

THE FIX:

Alternate click the Install.exe file, click Properties. Select the compatibility tab. Ensure that “Run the program in compatibility mode for:” box is checked. Select Windows 7 from the drop-down list and click OK. You should be good to go now!

How to Adjust Dark Screen

THE FIX:

From Main Menu or the Pause menu, click Video. Under Brightness, move the slider left or right to your liking.

Laggy. How to improve FPS

THE FIX:

Make sure your hardware can adequately run the game. See Minimum System Requirements below! Once that’s out of the way, there are three choices for video performance in the Options – Video menu. Try “Simple” graphics and see if things improve.

How to Invert Y-axis

THE FIX:

All Controls settings are adjustable in-game. Start or Load a game, then access the Pause Menu. Click Controls. Here, you can flip the Y-Axis (Up and Down Axis), or adjust sensitivity for your little game pad or mouse.

Strange Graphics

THE FIX:

If your graphics drivers are not up to date, your graphics card is likely on fire. Call your PC Technician if it is not yourself. If your PC technician is yourself, you will go straight to voicemail for yourself. Leave self message to check for hardware problems.

Minimum System Reqs

Minimum System Requirements:

Operating System: Windows XP, Vista, 7, Linux, or OSX

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz P4 or equivalent/higher

Memory: 2GB Ram Video Card: 1GB graphics adapter. – On-Board Graphics Adapters are NOT for gaming!

HDD Space: 2GB Soundcard: Seriously, do you not have a sound card?

All Other Issues

THE FIX:

We were totally going to leave this part blank for space issues, but then we realized you might want to contact us to tell us about a bu… err, we mean “unexpected situation” you may have found. For example, if the various characters in the game suddenly changed genders on you. Or, when you clicked New Game, the game started when you weren’t ready. These are things we need to know about to help us improve your experience with our game. After gallons of sweat and thorough testing, unforeseen bugs or glitches can still occur. No two players are alike, and there is no program without the probability of this. Hell, remember that PONG game? The developers left these HUGE holes on each side of the paddles. It caused players to get points. They’re still working on a fix for that.

To contact our fine establishment to inform us of such things, please go to our contact page and enter the following information:

1.What happened? (and did this happen more than once?)

2.Provide Steps to Reproduce – This one can get tricky. Just do your best to explain exactly what you did to see the issue.

3.Provide Screenshots or Video if possible – Not absolutely necessary, but anything helps!

The more details you can provide will greatly increase our chances of identifying and correcting the issue. We want you to feel you can get this stuff off your chest so you can keep a clear head! Surely we will rest better, too!

NOTE: When you may seem ‘stuck’, fret not. You may have hit an Autosave Point. Simply quit your game, and Load the Autosave. Boom. You are approximately where you left off.
